So just like the Swedish often use blue & yellow color palette for their flags, Poles use mainly red & white, at least, they'll do in this story :)
There 3 main categorories of polish flags:
* an official flag of Poland - red-white-red stripes with a shield presenting coats of arms of Poland ( crowned eagle ) and Lithuania ( 'pahonia; - charging knight ), there's usually also coat of arms of the polish dynasty inside it, and the shield alone is surrounded by golden chain, which represents Order of the Golden Fleece ... this flag is used by polish army and is flown at polish fortresses, towns, army camps etc. And of course, on one of the masts of our corsair galleon - MARS
Please, note that every stripe on this flag end with a triangle of sort, so, unlike many other flags, it's not a traditional rectangle.
* polish navy / corsair flag - it shows an arm with an oriental type of a sword, usually a scimitar, it's used only by polish navy and thus, by our corsairs on one of their masts
* flag of the City of Gdansk - in a smaller and more common version it shows two white crosses under a golden crown, in a bigger and much more majestic version, but less common, it shows two lions holding a shield with this the smaller version. This flag is used only by the City of Gdansk, it's official, it's trading ships, and of course, it's very own army. Iy's not really used by any polish units or anywhere outside Gdansk, but since Gdansk is a base for our heroes and since Gdansk is investing it's money into the corsair galleon, it's flowned on one of the masts of "Mars" as well.
Please see the images below to scroll trough their different version and the way they are flown, or represented on different features, like gates, etc.
Note that not all of this ships and pictures represent the right period of time, but I've selected them into the Galerry, since they contain those flags, and s0 may serve as an important reference.
