BLADED WEAPONS - Warhammers - secondary weapon of cavalry units, used by all of the faction, tho more often by the Poles, sometimes seen also in the infantry or the navy

Warhammers are not exactly hammers, tho they resemble hammers a little bit.

They are a secondary weapon of all of the cavalry units, used by both western-european and eastern-european faction, thus they are seen among Poles, Swedes, Russians and many other, tho Poles might use them more often and be more skilled with them.

There are two basic types of warhammers:

* horseman's pick

*  horseman's axe

The main and only difference between them is what they are called after - a horseman's axe has an element that looks a bit like an axe, and horseman's pick has an element that looks like a pick.

Sometimes warhammers might merge these two features and functions and so become a hybrid of horseman's axe and horseman's pick.
Tho, it's very uncommon, most of the soldiers prefer just one of the types, this one or another.

They may be different by constructions, most of them have a wooden handle, some might have a steel one. Sizes and proportions might be different as well, from short warhammers to some really long ones.

Their most important asset is that they are very effective against enemy armor, chest plates, shields, helmets, etc, especially when used from a horse's sadle.

Tho, of course, they are usually no much in a duel against a broadsword or a sabre, since both of these are longer and so have a bigger effective range. Still, warhammers are very effective when used in pursuit, after the retreating enemy etc.

Some soldiers like to use fight with them in the akimbo style, that it by holding two different warhammers in both hands, or a warhammer in one hand and some other weapon in another.
In this case, one weapon is often used as means of protection, to block enemy's attack and then counter him with another weapon.

Sometimes, but not as often as in the cavalry, they might be used by infantry members or by the navy crewmen, thus, they will be also seen among the corsair crew of "Mars".
