Carbines are a phase between long pistols and muskets, and they are used ONLY by the cavalry.
The reason for this is that are easier to be used from the saddle, than muskets, they are shorted and also easier to be reloaded this way.
Another difference is that horseman can hold and fire carbine with only one hand, what is impossible with a musket.
This might be quite usefull during the battle, as riders have to operate their horses or might need to use another weapon at the same time.
Carbines are are not a mandatory weapon for cavalry units, they might be spotted among some, but for most of the armies, it's really a matter of choice among the troopers.
Those who can affort them and know how to use them, will carry them or use other firing weapon - like an asian reflex bow.
It's very uncommon for horsemen to use both - a carbine and a bow - at the same time, since all of this equipment needs to be placed somewhere.
Still, among it's user is our main hero - KIZERO - who's pretty skilled with a carbine, and owns an asian reflex bow at the same time.
There are many different types of carbines, and they may differ in construction, so some might resemble a musket, some might look like a much longer pistol.
They are usually placed in a holster by the saddle, or are hung on a belt on the soldier's uniform.
Also, just like with other gunpowdered weapons, like pistols and muskers, carbines rely heavily on the weather and the quality of gunpowder.
Sometimes a gunpowder may be provided in bad quality or low quantity, and therefore, even tho a soldier might own a carbine, he won't be able to fire effectively. Or he will fire, but the bullet won't fly where it should and won't hit it's target.
Same with rain and water. These weapons need to be protected.
There fore, it sometimes takes time for carbines to dry, same with the gunpowder.
